Telephony toolkits today provide an incredible opportunity to do so much more than simply develop voice related IP or SIP based telephony applications. The modern developer has the ability to access a wide variety of tools to enable the development of applications that go far beyond the traditional.
With access to a greater array of development tools comes the expectation from developers to create applications that will ultimately impact the strategic direction of the company. To meet such a tall order, developers need access to the most feature rich, flexible tools available.
Most recently, PIKA Technologies put out a comparison document that highlighted the differences and similarities of a PIKA HMP-X telephony development platform to that of the traditional Dialogic developer platform. This document (accessible here) generated a great deal of interest as it highlighted some of the features and core capabilities of both platforms, but in addition, pointed to some very interesting differences between the two.
What really stood out to me were not so much the differences in features, but rather the differences in the “surround sound”. The surround sound being the ease of product accessibility, support and pricing..
Here are four such ‘surround sound’ features:
Tell me if you think these surround sound features play a critical role in the developer’s ability to create innovative solutions. We’re interested in your opinion.
